Meet Kate

Kate Landete is a Central Coast local, mum of two, and passionate advocate for improving the mental and emotional wellbeing of her community. Over five years ago, she founded Kate Landete Counselling, a private practice dedicated to supporting people through life’s most challenging seasons.

As a clinically registered Counsellor and Accredited EMDR practitioner, Kate brings compassion, authenticity, and a trauma-informed approach to her work. She supports men, women, and young people (12+) with concerns including trauma, anxiety, depression, and deeply rooted stress, helping them find relief, build resilience, and move toward healing and growth.

Kate’s counselling style is person-centred, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming. She creates a safe, respectful space where clients can be open and honest as they explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Her work integrates a range of evidence-based therapies , including CBT, ACT, DBT, positive psychology, mindfulness, parts work, and EMDR, so that each person receives care tailored to their unique needs.

She has a particular passion for EMDR therapy, a powerful tool for reprocessing distressing memories and reducing their emotional weight. Through EMDR, Kate helps clients gently heal from trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression, opening the door to resilience and self-discovery.

Another special focus for Kate is supporting women through the perinatal journey - from fertility and conception to pregnancy, birth, and the often complex transition into motherhood (matrescence). She offers nurturing guidance through grief, loss, and the emotional shifts of parenthood, ensuring women and families feel seen, supported, and resourced with practical self-care strategies.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Counselling from the Australian College of Applied Psychology and has worked in a variety of settings, including volunteer crisis support at Lifeline, youth intake at Headspace, and EAP counselling. She also spent nearly a decade managing a boutique health and fitness centre, giving her a broad, holistic understanding of health and wellbeing. Recently, Kate became an approved Victims of Crime Counsellor, extending her capacity to support people navigating significant trauma.

Her professional knowledge is deeply enriched by her own lived experiences with depression, postnatal anxiety, and chronic pain. This personal insight allows Kate to bring not only skill, but also genuine empathy and understanding to every session.

Whether guiding clients through trauma recovery or helping them discover confidence and purpose, Kate’s commitment remains the same: to provide a safe, compassionate space where healing, growth, and transformation can take root.
